Andy Mellor is a clarinettist from Harrogate, North Yorkshire. His initial musical training began at Yorkshire Young Musicians, where he performed his concerto debut and joined the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, his seat supported by the Wolfson Foundation. He was later awarded a place to study at the Royal Northern College of Music and, in July 2019, graduated with a First Class Honours degree after studying with Lynsey Marsh, Nicholas Cox, Christopher Swann and Matthew Hunt. Andy is now in his second year of postgraduate studies on the Orchestral Artistry programme at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He enjoys playing and working closely with the London Symphony Orchestra and LSO Discovery whilst studying with Joy Farrall, Andrew Marriner and Michael Collins.

Andy enjoys playing as a versatile musician. He has performed with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Hallé Orchestra, working under the baton of notable conductors including Michael Tilson Thomas, Marin Alsop, Gianandrea Noseda and Thomas Søndergård. Other orchestral highlights include performances at the BBC Proms, the 44th Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano, Italy, the Young Euro Classic Festival at the Konzerthaus Berlin, and a collaboration with musicians from the Conservatoire de Paris. In December 2018, Andy was invited to perform as a soloist with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra during their high-profile tribute concert to Sir John Manduell. As an experienced solo and chamber musician, Andy has enjoyed performing around the UK at many venues and festivals including the Bridgewater Hall, Buxton International Festival, St. James’s Piccadilly and Music Coll Scotland. In May 2019 he commissioned and gave the World Premiere of Matthew Eden’s two movement Sonata for Clarinet and Piano.

Andy also has a keen interest in performing jazz and popular music. In November 2019 he joined the “ImPossibilities” at the London Jazz Festival, and regularly participates in events with the group. He has also previously performed alongside the Impossible Gentlemen with Gwylim Simcok, Mike Walker and Thomas Gould, and at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

Andy is proud to be a current award holder from the Worshpful Company of Musicians, and is thankful to the Musician’s Company, Help Musicians UK, the Norman Gee Scholarship Foundation and the Guildhall School Financial Awards for their generous support towards his studies. He plays on Buffet Crampon Clarinets, which he was able to purchase with additional support from the Wolfson Foundation.

Twenty-four-year-old British pianist Sean Greenheld, originally from York, is currently studying for his postgraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music under Helen Krizos. Sean also studied at the RNCM for his undergraduate degree, for which he was awarded first class honours.

Sean has a wealth of performing experience at venues across the United Kingdom, most notably the Purcell Room in London, the Howard Assembly Room in Leeds and the Millennium Centre in Cardiff. He has also participated in masterclasses with various distinguished pianists including Martin Roscoe, Carole Presland, Alessandro Taverna, Stefano Fuizzi and Bernard D’Ascoli. One of Sean’s most outstanding achievements is receiving the joint First Prize in the Fergal O’Mahony Prize 2017 held at the Royal Northern College of Music.

A key focus for Sean is his love and passion for chamber music and accompaniment, as he is a firm believer that music is most powerful when shared. He regularly accompanies students at Yorkshire Young Musicians at the Leeds College of Music for their ABRSM exams. Sean is proud to be a Help Musicians UK Myra Hess Award Holder and is very grateful for the support of Help Musicians UK during his postgraduate studies.
