Hungarian violinist Boglárka György started playing the violin at the age of eight. Studies followed at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Israel and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Boglárka has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe and Asia, including at the Budapest Spring Festival, Keshet Eilon, Sommerakademie PragWienBudapest and the International Music Festival in Moscow. She has won awards at many competitions including the National Dénes Kovács Violin Competiton (second prize) and the International Music Arts Festival in Balassagyarmat (first and grand prize).
Boglárka has a particular passion for contemporary music and often plays with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group; she has worked with some of the world’s most renowned contemporary composers and musicians such as Brian Ferneyhough, the Arditti Quartet, Marton Illes and Andrew Hamilton, for whom she gave the UK premiere of his work ‘WALDO’ live on BBC Radio 3.
Boglárka plays a 1797 violin by Cuypers which is kindly on loan to her from the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation.
Yorkshire-born pianist Amy Butler studied with British concert pianist Martin Roscoe and for four years at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, where she was also a choral scholar.
Amy has a particular passion for collaborating with other musicians. She is a staff pianist for the East Riding Music Hub and accompanist for Beverley Male Voice Choir and Snaith & District Choral Society. Amy regularly appears in concert with other musicians. In 2015 she formed a piano duo with pianist Peter Sproston, with appearances throughout the north of England in works including Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune (arr. Ravel), Scheherezade (Rimsky-Korsakov), Mother Goose (Ravel) and Fantasie in F minor (Schubert). She has performed many times with tenor Steven Goulden in works including Dichterliebe (Schumann) and An die ferne Geliebte (Beethoven) and is a regular duo partner of flautist Chris Hill and violinist Boglárka György, with whom she has given recitals for North Westmorland Arts and Warwick Arts Centre during 2022.
Amy has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across the UK for venues and music societies including Hull City Hall, Ferens Art Gallery, Christ Church Southport, Doncaster Arts & Museum Society, Beverley Minster, Southwell Minster, Wakefield and Ripon Cathedrals, Bourneville Concert Series, the Eric Coates Society and the Guild of Musicians and Singers at All Hallows by the Tower (London).
